The location of birth listed by himself 1850 SC, 1860 NC, 1870 SC; and his children in the 1880-1920 census shows (Henry M.) TN, TN; (Francis M.) NC, ?, ?, NC; (Jefferson L.) SC, ?, TN; (Robert L.) SC, ?, ?, NC ; (Philistia A.) NC. In the 1860 census for Jeremiah the location is suspect because everyone in the family are listed as NC. That leaves 4 for SC, 4 for NC, and 3 for TN. Jeremiah himself has 2 of those for SC. I believe Jeremiah was born is SC. Perhaps he grew up in NC.
